20 Coffee Shops To Visit in San Diego

If you’re reading this, you probably live in San Diego or you’re vacationing in America’s finest city and either way you’re very lucky because the best & trendiest coffee shops are all around you! I’ve pointed out my favorites on this super cool map (amazing Google feature I just discovered!) so you can decide which ones you want to visit. My love for Pop Pie runs DEEP. The flakey sweet and savory pies are unbeatable and the coffee is so smooth and perfect. This is one of my favorite places in San Diego, no matter the time of day. The owners are amazing people and I love watching them dominate the SD food scene!

Location: University Heights & Point Loma

Don’t sleep on this quaint spot in Miramar. They have great, ethically sourced coffee, and bomb breakfast burritos & empanadas.

This cool coffee shop near SDSU has a welcoming/laid back vibe, good coffee, and yummy bagel sandwiches. Love that they also have easy online ordering!

Location: El Cerrito

This spot is SUCH a hidden gem! It has a bright, trendy and spacious interior and beautiful outdoor space, the coffee is fresh and they have a full kitchen making delicious breakfast and lunch items.

Location: Sabre Springs

This adorable coastal coffee shop serves phenomenal coffee (beans by steady state roasting) and has a nicely stocked pastry case.

Location: Leucadia

You’ll want to hang out here ALL day with the beautiful bay views, spacious outdoor seating, and cute retail store nearby. They serve great coffee drinks, fresh pressed juice, yummy pastries and a full vegan menu.

Not only is the coffee super good, but Oliver has some of the best + freshest pastries you can find in SD! The owner makes all of the baked goods herself and switches them up with what fruits are in season.

If you’ve been following me, you know how much I love Mrktspace. It’s a coffee shop, eatery, gourmet market, and bar all in one. The food is super good and healthy. Order the Brown Sugar Latte & Chicken Farro Salad! New La Jolla location is coming soon!

Part coffee shop, part wine bar-need I say more!? This spot just opened a few months ago at the Del Mar Highlands (next to the Sky Deck) and has cute/cozy vibes and amazing breakfast items. Order the avocado toast!

Originally operating in East Village, Genteel recently reopened after a few year hiatus (yay!) in North Park. I love the trendy/minimal vibe and their coffee is great. Order the Fox Trot Latte!

Seaborne is located inside the Rising Co, a super trendy open-aired co-op space in Oceanside. Order a coffee and pastry and be sure to get a photo against the minimal black and white mural outside!

While Palmy’s main focus isn’t really on its coffee, I HAD to add this to the list because it has the coolest outdoor beach vibes, perfect breakfast dishes and of course, coffee. Palmy’s serves major vacay vibes.

Could easily eat at Parakeet every single day. The matcha is magnificent (my fav in SD), and you need to order the Breakfast Burrito and Banana Oat Muffin. Everything is super healthy/clean and amazing.

Location: Del Mar, La Jolla, Little Italy, & Coronado

This all glass, walk-up style cafe is located at the UTC Mall in La Jolla and is the perfect start to a day of shopping. If you have time, order for “here” and sit outside near the koi pond for zen vibes.

It’s not hard to find one of these glitzy + fun coffee shops that are located all throughout San Diego. They are known for their sweet + strong coffee drinks, acai bowls, and avocado toast.

S3 is famous for their insta-worthy items like “Mermaid Toast” and seasonal drinks that will surely brighten up your day. Check out their IG for seasonal specials, like the one pictured here!

I’m sure you’re familiar with owner/chef Priscilla Curiel of Tuetano Taqueria. During the pandemic, she opened this rad little spot which includes touches of hot pink (love!). Mujer Divina is all about coffee and burritos, which is hands down the best combo ever.

This half art gallery, half coffee shop has made the coolest use of their space with garage-door style windows and fun decor. Definitely a must visit when down South.

Location: Logan Heights

Communal draws a crowd every day of the week for their super instagramable aesthetic, good coffee/matcha, and cute home decor, plants and gifts. Be sure to get your photo of the “Coffee + Flowers” sign at their North Park location.

Sit down with a latte (or cocktail) next to a glittery Ronald Mcdonald at this funky, Jurassic Park inspired spot in East Village, which is also part of J and Tony’s.
