How to Spend Valentine’s Day in San Diego

It’s been a minute since I’ve written a blog post but I absolutely LOVE holidays and couldn’t let the most romantic day of the year pass by without giving y’all some fun ideas for how to spend it in San Diego. In addition to the classic dinner and a movie date, I’ve captured some fun and unique ideas for spending February 14th with your valentine!

Visit a Museum

If you didn’t know, February is museum month in San Diego. Visit 60+ museums for 50% off with the Digital Museum Pass or check out two new AMAZING museums-Beyond King Tut and and WNDR Museum. Beyond King Tut is located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and allows you to immerse yourself in Ancient Egyptian history and King Tut’s life through an entirely virtual experience. It’s educational & fun and perfect for all ages. WNDR museum is an interactive art museum in the Gaslamp Downtown that encourages visitors to explore their creative side. The museum features rotating exhibitions of art installations from up-and-coming as well as established artists. After exploring the WNDR museum, be sure to grab a slice of pizza across the street at the newly opened Prince St. Pizza.

Oceans at Night: Bioluminescence and Biofluorescence

This new monthly 21+ event transforms Birch Aquarium into an experimental playground and celebrates the wonders and mysteries of the ocean at night. Be on the lookout for bioluminescence and biofluorescence, sip on glowing drinks, listen to live music, play games and so much more! Advanced registration required.

Rent a Boat on Mission Bay

What better way to spend time with your significant other than out on the open water? You can rent boats from Mission Bay Sportcenter and cruise around the bay with drinks and snacks. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to drive a boat—they also offer boats with captains included! So sit back and relax while you watch the sunset over the bay.

Play a Round of Mini Golf at the loma club

Head to Liberty Station for some late afternoon fun at Tapper’s Mini Golf. Afterwards, grab a cocktail at Moniker General and eat your way through the Liberty Food Hall.

Take a Cooking Class Together

If you're looking for something more intimate this Valentine's Day why not sign up for a cooking class together? There are plenty offered all around San Diego that cover everything from pizza making to sushi rolling to dessert decorating!

Movie & dinner

Catch a movie under the stars at one of San Diego’s many outdoor cinemas. There are plenty of spots where you can enjoy classic movies, like Balboa Park’s Starlight Bowl, La Jolla’s Scripps Park Seaside Cinema or downtown’s Rooftop Cinema Club. Pack some blankets and snacks for extra coziness!

If you’d rather catch a flick indoors, check out Cinepolis’ Valentines deals like happy hour until 11pm and half price tickets on 2/14! I highly recommend dining at the Del Mar Highland Sky Deck first (eat at Kiin Extraordinary Thai) and then walking up top to Cinepolis Del Mar.
